If this sounds familiar, you’re likely stuck in a food rut. It happens to the best of us, especially when life gets busy and convenience takes priority over creativity in the kitchen.

But food should be fun! Not only should it nourish your body, but it should also be a source of joy. When you find yourself uninspired by your meals, it’s time to shake things up and reignite your love for food. Here are seven simple and practical ways to bust out of your food rut and bring excitement back to the table.

1. Try a New Ingredient Each Week

One of the easiest ways to refresh your meals is to introduce new ingredients. Have you ever walked through the produce aisle and seen something unfamiliar? Or noticed a spice that you’ve never cooked with before? Adding just one new thing can completely transform your usual go-to recipes.
