Weight loss is a hot topic that never goes out of style, unfortunately. Women especially are constantly bombarded with diet trends and hacks for weight loss, when all we really want are simple solutions. Nothing crazy, nothing that’s not sustainable, just simple healthy remedies for stubborn fat. Fat burning foods, for example, is a great way to promote weight loss. In fact, it’s one of my favorite weight loss tips. In today’s blog I’ll not only cover my go-to fat burning foods, but also share foods to eat to lose weight in stomach

Foods To Avoid For Weight Loss

Before we get into fat burning foods, it’s best to start with the foods you want to avoid in order to optimize your weight loss. There would be no point in eating food to burn fat, if you’re also eating foods that are contributing to your body holding onto fat. It would be like exercising every day, only to wreck it with a poor diet. They essentially cancel each other out. We want to incorporate foods and habits that complement each other, and give us results, fast!

Here are my top three foods to avoid as part of my epic weight loss tips rundown:

  • Sugar
    • This is a non-negotiable! If you want to look and feel your best, you need to cut down on sugar, big time. As much as we like to believe not all sugar is created equal, at the end of the day our body doesn’t know the difference. For example, while I would prefer you eat fruit over cookies, the sugar is still being metabolized the same way in the body. Hold on! This does not mean you should view cookies and fruit as the same. We always want to factor in nutrition profiles, however, in terms of weight loss, we want to look at sugar as very black and white. [1] So, my recommendation is 1-2 servings of fruit per day, and limiting the sweet treats.
  • Alcohol
    • Alcohol is essentially a sister of sugar, and it actually prevents fat burn. Plus, it’s one of the major contributing factors in obesity trends. [2] Having a glass of wine here and there is fine, but a bottle of wine here and there can be the difference between losing and gaining weight. Personally, I stick to drinking on occasion quite literally. Unless there’s a wedding, big birthday, or very special occasion, the negative side effects aren’t worth it!
  • Cheese
    • I know, I know. This is one of the weight loss tips everyone wants to turn a blind eye to, especially me. But we can’t ignore the facts! If you truly want to know foods to eat to lose weight in stomach region, cheese is one of them. One study even claimed that cheese is among the top ranking foods for gaining belly fat. [3] Giving up fatty foods like cheese will also benefit your skin health, especially if you’re under 30. [4]

5 Foods To Eat When Trying To Lose Weight

Now onto the fun part–fat burning foods that love you back! When I talk about foods that love us back, I’m talking about the benefits. If you’re like me, you love food. But not all foods love us back, with cheese as the perfect example. However, foods that do love us back are ones that contribute to our health, weight loss, and overall vitality.

Let’s cut right to it, here are my five favorite fat burning foods:

  1. Green tea
  2. Cayenne pepper
  3. Goji berries
  4. Grapefruit
  5. Arugula

How To Ramp Up Results

To get the most out of these weight loss tips, there are a few things you can do. The first thing is to be consistent. The more you incorporate the fat burning foods into your life, and reduce the fat retaining foods, the quicker you’ll see results! The second thing is to be realistic with yourself and your lifestyle. If you know eating all these different foods is difficult for you, for whatever reason, there are so many ways to call in backup! For example, SkinnyFit’s Detox tea is a refreshing tea that actually contains two of the fat burning ingredients I talked about. Plus, it’s as delicious pre-made and chilled as it is freshly brewed hot. Along with Detox tea, making sure you’re hydrated is also key. Our body gets rid of waste via water, whether it be sweat or urine. So giving your body enough water is a detox must. Daily movement is another way to support fat loss, especially in the stomach area.

I hope this blog inspires you to switch up some of the foods you eat in order to help you reach your health goals! The better you fuel, the better you feel. 🙂
