How To Make A Skinny Cosmopolitan Cocktail Recipe

I’ll never forget the time I went to a dive bar with my aunt and she ordered a cosmo. Her favorite cocktail is the cosmo cocktail, so that’s what she ordered! The bartender about fell over when he heard her request, and told her to pick a beer. Despite her love of pink drinks, my aunt has the mouth of a sailor, and she put it to use that day. We laughed as we walked out, and called my uncle to prepare one for each of us because we were headed home. I’ve watched my uncle make about a hundred different variations of cosmos over my lifetime, so when I started to experiment with my own unique cosmopolitan drink recipe, I knew exactly where to start.

What Is A Cosmo Cocktail?

A traditional cosmo cocktail starts with a good quality vodka, an orange citrus liqueur, cranberry juice, and fresh lime. There are many variations of how to make a cosmopolitan drink recipe, but that’s the basic foundation for just about all of them. The cosmopolitan drink recipe we’ll be making today is a bit healthier, and in my opinion, much tastier! The original cosmopolitan cocktail dates back to the 1970’s, but some argue it was first made in the 20’s. The cocktail name “Cosmopolitan” was first mentioned in a magazine in 1927, but the cosmo cocktail we know today didn’t gain popularity until the 70’s. The only similarity the one mentioned earlier on has with the current cosmo is the use of vodka.

How To Make A Cosmopolitan

To make a cosmo cocktail you’ll start by adding your good quality vodka to a cocktail shaker full of ice. You’ll then add each of the remaining ingredients—orange liqueur, cranberry juice, and a squeeze of fresh lime. Shake well, and strain the drink into a martini glass. You can add more lime to taste, and serve with a fresh lime wedge.

Skinny Cosmo Drink Ingredients

The ingredients in this skinny cosmo cocktail are not too different from a traditional cosmopolitan drink recipe. The one thing you will need to do ahead of time is brew and cool your SkinnyFit Detox tea. This tea is like a tummy-tuck in every sip. It’s full of antioxidants that help remove waste from the body, and ingredients that help you feel full and hydrated at the same time, and never bloated. If you don’t want to wait for your Detox tea to cool overnight or for a few hours, you can simply pour it over ice for about 5 minutes before incorporating it into your cosmo cocktail. The cranberry juice in this recipe is also a great boost of antioxidants. If you want to use zero sugar cranberry juice to reduce the sugar content, it’s just as delicious, in my opinion! Now, vodka is not exactly a health food, but using a good quality vodka can make all the difference in whether you’re bedridden with a hangover or out to brunch shaking it off. I like to go for pure, gluten-free vodkas like Ketel One and Tito’s. Lastly, limes are a delicious citrus fruit that are full of antioxidants and Vitamin C. They’re great for helping boost immune function, and are also great for managing healthy weight loss.

Now that you know all about what makes this amazing skinny cosmopolitan drink recipe so great, let’s make it! Just like you would make a traditional cosmo cocktail, add all of your ingredients to a cocktail shaker full of ice—the vodka, your cooled SkinnyFit Detox tea, the cranberry juice, and lime juice. Give it a good shake, then strain and pour it into your favorite martini glass!
