How To Make A Chai Spiced White Russian Cocktail

Written by Shelby Torrese

Jump To Recipe

We live in a time where there’s no excuse to eat junk food, because there are always healthy alternatives. No matter what you’re craving—whether it’s dessert or fast food—there is a recipe out there that makes it with less sugar, no inflammatory oils, and way more protein. In today’s post, I’ll be sharing a White Russian drink recipe that is, of course, a White Russian cocktail, but with anti-aging collagen (and way less sugar!).

This White Russian recipe was inspired by, well, a few too many White Russian cocktail rounds. I woke up with the absolute worst sugar hangover, and I knew there had to be a way to make a White Russian drink recipe that kept all of the delicious flavor, without all of the unwanted sugar. Sure enough, after some trial and error (and hair-of-the-dog taste testing), it’s safe to say I perfected it. If you love White Russians, you’re going to love this healthier version of it!

What Is A White Russian Cocktail?

The White Russian cocktail was first coined in 1965, and is actually a spin-off of the traditional Black Russian cocktail. The White Russian drink recipe became popular for its easy and accessible ingredient list, and of course, how delicious it is! Up until these “Russian” cocktails (which actually have no association with Russia), vodka was associated with being a harsh, strong alcohol choice. By adding the coffee liqueur, people fell in love with the smooth, sweet twist on the beloved vodka.

White Russian cocktails are meant to be sipped on and enjoyed, not taken like a shot or chugged. Think of it as a classy, year-round take on cocktails like Irish Coffee or spiked eggnog. I love this White Russian drink recipe for cocktail parties, girls’ nights, or as a sweet night-cap with some shortbread cookies.

Chai Spice White Russian Ingredients

This White Russian recipe is made with ingredients you’ll likely have on hand, or are at least very easy to find at your local grocery store. And, of course, it includes your favorite online purchase—Super Youth collagen.

First up for this White Russian drink recipe is vodka. Don’t tell your mother-in-law, but you can use bottom- or middle-shelf vodka for this recipe. It doesn’t make a big difference, I promise. Next, you’ll need chai tea bags. Any brand or variety will do, but I prefer a simple black chai tea. If the box doesn’t specify, it’s likely black chai tea. Don’t overthink it, it will be delicious either way. Then you’ll need your favorite coffee-flavored liqueur (such as Bailey’s), and your favorite half-and-half.

As previously mentioned, we’ll also be using Super Youth in this recipe for all of the amazing anti-aging benefits. Remember, you can get a sugar-loaded White Russian anywhere, we’re trying to make this one healthy! Not only does collagen have hair, skin and nail benefits, but it’s also a great boost of protein. In my personal experience, this also helps to reduce hangovers. If that doesn’t make this White Russian drink recipe the best recipe of all time, I don’t know what will!

Finally, you’ll need some cinnamon and ice because this is an authentic White Russian recipe! It is going to be delicious, and totally photogenic with the garnish of cinnamon.

Once you have all your ingredients, let’s do this!
