What Is Manifestation?
Manifestation, or the Law of Attraction, is all about defining who you are by using your thoughts. When you are manifesting the desired outcome, you can use the laws of the Universe to attract anything and everything you want into your life. What you think and feel is what you attract into your life. Think about it: If you really wanted to become an artist that everyone loved but all you could think about was how terrible your paintings were… you’d likely attract criticism. If you hate money, the idea that you’ll be super-wealthy is far fetched. In order to pull what you want into your life, you have to get into the right mindset. But, it doesn’t stop there. Here’s how the next step of manifesting works: You must focus on what you want, not what you want to avoid. Imagine a struggling actress, driving her beat-up car home, day after day after failed casting calls. But instead of focusing on the negatives, she turns her mindset towards the positive. She envisions huge roles, large paychecks, and worldwide success. She believes that she’ll make it someday and success is out there. Eventually, she gains success. She envisions herself winning and convinces herself that she’s great and deserves her greatest desires.
Manifesting love, money, or success can be a wild journey. It starts with taking a leap into the unknown and trusting that things are going to work out in your favor. If your goal is to start making enough money that you can work at home and be financially secure, you must start by reprogramming your mindset surrounding wealth. How do you think about money? Do you believe that you deserve to be financially free? Imagine yourself receiving a check for $90,000 for a month’s work. How would you feel? Manifesting boils down to believing in yourself and believing that your wildest dreams will come true. In fact, believing that they already exist will fastrack your dreams coming true.
Types Of Manifestation
The book that put manifesting on the map and answered what is manifestation was “The Secret.” In the book, the author discusses how to attract what you want.
The three steps of manifesting are:
- Asking: Gain crystal clarity on what it is that you want to accomplish and see yourself already accomplishing it. Use the present tense to say thank you for having it in your life. “I am grateful for [insert dream here].”
- Believing: If you don’t believe you can make it happen, why would anyone else? Get confident about who you are and what you’re attracting.
- Receiving: How will it feel when you reach your goal? What will your emotions feel like? How will you celebrate? Visualize the process of receiving what you want and tap into the raw emotions of accepting what you’ve manifested.
When learning how to manifest, there are three types of manifestation that you may or may not be aware of. Should you develop your own manifestation practice, it can be useful to know how to manifest and what to look out for. Remember: When manifesting, things should feel easy and effortless.
Someone with a victim mentality AKA someone who feels that “the world is in my way” is usually unconscious of how their thoughts and emotions affect their reality. As a fun activity, sometimes I like to listen to how these people talk about the world around them. Most of the time, the comments are negative. The weather is off, they couldn’t find a parking space, they’ve gained weight, their boss is a nightmare, the kids haven’t called, and the list goes on and on. They repeat negative comments, feel down, and doubt their own worth. That’s why they attract and manifest negative energy. Unfortunately, until they become conscious that their emotions and thoughts are the ones in the driver’s seat, they may continue to suffer. How many people like this do you know?
This type of manifesting refers to following societal rules. I bet you know someone who has lived their entire life by a rule book. Well, if I put in enough hours of work, I’ll get a leadership position and a higher paycheck. AKA following step A will lead to step B. But, as we all know, life doesn’t always fit perfectly into a box. Things don’t always go according to plan. Surface manifestation can lead to greed, and the concept of haves and have nots.
If you want to make your life truly interesting, try consciously manifesting. This type of manifestation does not follow rules, instead, it follows your heart’s desire. It makes you ask the question, “What do I want to create? What kind of life do I want to live?” You don’t have to follow rules or societal expectations. Instead, life becomes a big playground where you can take a deep breath and relax a little. For example, what if you relaxed into the realization that you had everything you needed?
How Does Manifestation (The Law Of Attraction) Work?
Just like the Law of Attraction, manifestation begins with figuring out what we want. Like attracts like, just like the law of cause and effect. That means that you will receive the same energy you put out in the world. Positive energy will attract positive energy, and negative energy will attract negative energy. If you wake up every day and you don’t like your reality, it doesn’t mean that you did anything wrong or you’re a bad person. It means that it’s time to take a step back and try to understand what energy you’re putting into the universe. Remember, with manifestation, you have the power to change your life as soon as you decide you want to change it.
Everything in life has an opposite: Light and dark, up and down, feminine and masculine, love and fear, happiness and sadness. It can be frustrating when things don’t go the way we want, but how would we appreciate happiness if we didn’t experience sadness? Opposites help us understand what we want.
Once we know what we want to receive, we must visualize it coming to us. Visualizing includes feeling the types of emotions that we’ll experience once we receive it. If you want to land your dream job, visualize how you’ll feel when you receive the acceptance letter. Feeling the feelings of what you want to attract is everything. This will help you feel more positive and motivated to help you manifest these goals.
How To Manifest Your Goals
Your thoughts create things and your reality is a direct reflection of your thoughts. You are what you believe and the beliefs you have about yourself and what you can or cannot achieve determine your world. When it comes to mastering how to manifest the first step is to take notice of your belief system, and if it’s negative, change it accordingly.
Step 1: Figure Out What You Want
Take an evaluation of your life. What areas are going well and what could use a bit of work? Maybe you’re in a great, loving relationship but you hate your job. Or you live in your dream house but you want to write a book. Figure out what you want and get passionate about it. Believe that you deserve to have it. Life isn’t about suffering or just making it through the tough times, it’s about embracing all of the gifts, happiness, and abundance life will offer you! Your job is to get clear on what you want and believe you deserve it!
Step 2: Journal
Find a peaceful space that’s free of distractions. Think about the most successful and fulfilled version of yourself. What do you feel like? What do you look like? Crack open a journal and write whatever comes to mind.
- What do I really want?
- If there were no limits, what would I manifest?
- What do I want to attract into my life?
- What’s the highest version of myself? What do I look like? What are my values?
- What is my dream daily routine? How does that help me reach my goals?

Step 3: Create a vision board
Once you know what you want, find images that represent your desires and place them on a vision board. You can cut out images from a magazine, or copy and paste images from the Internet and make a collage. Representing your goals with pictures can strengthen your emotions and the Law of Attraction. Put your vision board somewhere you’ll see it every day, like your bedroom or bathroom, and your subconscious mind will go to work and make your desires come true.
Step 4: Write a mantra or affirmations & say them everyday
This is a phenomenal way to influence your subconscious mind and bring your dreams to life. One thing about the subconscious mind: It doesn’t know what’s real and what’s fake. That means that if your dream is to become a famous actress at age 65, you can trick your mind into thinking it’s real. And feeling like a famous actress is the fastest way to become one. The Universe will respond to this feeling and things will start appearing in your life to put you on track to achieving your dreams. All of a sudden, you get an agent. You land a movie deal. You walk the red carpet. You’re interviewed by reporters.
Your affirmations should be written in a way that they already happened or will happen. Sample affirmations:
- Money pours into my life. I am abundant.
- I am in the happiest relationship. I feel totally supported and loved.
- My body is happy and healthy. I love taking care of myself.
- I feel fit and sexy. My metabolism is better than ever.
- I choose to be happy with my life right now. I love my life!
I am successful and I am earning a million dollars a year as a famous actress.
Step 5: Keep trusting
It’s common that once you begin manifesting that things start going a bit … um, haywire. The universe tests whether what you asked for is truly what you want. This might happen if you’re not super clear on what you want. If you feel like things still need to be cleared away in order to receive exactly what you want, try going back to journaling or your affirmations. Remember that things usually don’t happen exactly when we think they will. Allow divine timing to do its job. Remember, you deserve everything you want.

Manifestation begins with understanding what you want. Take time to ask yourself what your desires are. Remember to be crystal clear. You want to attract exactly what you asked for.
